Nach langer Wartezeit ist Google Street View jetzt auch in den zwanzig größten Städten verfügbar. Mein aktueller Wohnsitz und meine beschauliche Straße am Rande von Köln haben es leider noch nicht geschafft, aber das wird sicher noch.
Für den Einstieg nehme ich euch mit in auf eine nicht ganz ernstzunehmende, gastronomische Reise durch meine Heimat Köln.
Auf meiner Reise zu diesen Orten ist mir aufgefallen, dass Fußgängerzonen nicht verfügbar sind. Deshalb fehlen hier Hohe Straße und Schildergasse. Da muss das Street View-Fahrrad nacharbeiten. Des Weiteren fallen die große Anzahl verpixelter Gebäude auf. Bleibt zu hoffen, dass diese über Googles hauseigene Panoramio-Integration wieder für jeden sichtbar gemacht werden. Die Entrüstung um Google Street View war in Deutschland am größten. Datenschützer und Wichtigtuer waren empört. Und jetzt? Kein Mensch regt sich auf, Street View wird von Vielen genutzt, auch auf vielen Webseiten. Und die, die ihr Wohnhaus unkenntlich machen ließen, haben sich eher lächerlich gemacht. Man könnte auch sagen, dass das erst die Neugierde weckt.
